Hi, My name is Nicholas Thompson. I was born in Woodland, CA on March 26, 1979. I graduated from Del
Oro High School in 1998. After High School I attended American River College for six years, with the goal
of transferring to Sacramento State. My interest is in Kinesiology but, I took an off road track and got my
R.O.P. certification in Careers with Children. During that time I did volunteer work at not only my ala mater,
Del Oro High, but at E.V. Cain Middle School as well. Working at both sites gave me the opportunity to work
in the teaching field, which I really enjoy.
I currently do not plan to return to college, but I would still like a career in sports and fitness and working
with children. Since I was little, I have always loved and been involved in sports, despite my disability. My
first love was track and field, and then I moved onto baseball. I have also done some snow skiing over the
years. During high school I was the student manager for the Varsity Basketball team. In doing this, it lead
me to play for the Capitol Cagers Wheelchair Basketball. Now, my new and current love is Sled Hockey. I
have been involved in this fun, fast paced, and hard‐hitting sport since a clinic I attended over six years ago.
I am currently playing for the Sacramento Lightning Sled Hockey Team. I am considered to be one of the
team’s key and star players. One day, I hope to fulfill my life long childhood dream of not only playing on
the National Team, but my ultimate goal to compete in
the Paralympics!
